Terms of use
The short version, in plain English
What the service is
SortMyStops.com is a free web tool that orders a list of addresses into an efficient driving sequence and hands the result to a navigation app. It covers the 48 contiguous states and Washington, DC. There is no account or subscription. By using the service, you agree to these terms.
You must be legally able to accept these terms. If you use the planner for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so on its behalf.
It is a planning aid, not driving instructions
Routes, distances and drive times are estimates produced from map data and typical road speeds. They do not account for live traffic, closures, weather, construction, vehicle restrictions, private access roads, or whether a turn is legal for the vehicle you are driving.
Review the complete route before departure. Do not interact with the planner or edit a route while driving; pull over safely or let a passenger handle the device. Road signs, traffic laws, closures and vehicle restrictions take priority over any estimate. Height, weight, hazmat and commercial-vehicle limits are not modeled.
The service is provided as-is, without warranty. It is free, it may be unavailable at times, and features may change. Do not build a process that cannot survive an outage.
What is expected of you
You agree not to:
- automate bulk requests, scrape the site or otherwise place unreasonable load on it; geocoding and routing endpoints are rate limited and abuse is blocked;
- resell or rebrand the service, or present its output as your own commercial routing product;
- use it for anything unlawful, or to plan activity that would harm people;
- upload addresses you have no right to process. If those are customer addresses, that responsibility stays with you.
Normal daily use for your own routes, including commercial driving, is allowed and is what the planner is for.
Your data and your content
The addresses and notes you enter remain yours. Persistent drafts and recent routes are stored in your browser, while route data is also processed by the site’s API and selected geocoding or routing providers to produce a result. The privacy page explains which fields are processed for each purpose.
A shared route link reversibly encodes stops and notes in the URL. If you share one, you are sharing that data with anyone who receives the complete link. Do not include sensitive personal information, passwords or access codes.
Third-party services and trademarks
Address and map data comes from the US Census Bureau Geocoder and OpenStreetMap contributors, used under their respective terms. Routing may be provided by LocationIQ, Simple Routing or OpenRouteService. When you open a route in a navigation app, that app’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, OsmAnd and the other products named on this site are trademarks of their respective owners. SortMyStops.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, and comparisons on this site reflect publicly available information at the time of writing.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties and the operator of SortMyStops.com is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from use of route estimates, outages or third-party data. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If you need guaranteed availability, support response times, contractual routing accuracy or coverage for regulated vehicles, do not rely on this free service as your only planning system.
Changes and contact
These terms may change when the product, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date below identifies the version currently published. Material changes apply prospectively from the updated date.
